As many of you know, we’ve now closed our shop on Chapel Street after seven wonderful years of trading, learning and knowledge exchange. As we navigate this new chapter I’ll be sharing our latest news, plant sales and upcoming events in these monthly newsletters. I hope you enjoy reading.

Our evolution

As interest in buying domestic houseplants waned last year, I was increasingly asked about garden plants. Without a courtyard at the shop, we were unable to stock them at the time – but as luck would have it, I have been fortunate to acquire a polytunnel. Thanks to this additional space, I am now able to diversify what we grow and supply – taking a leap of faith to propagate a range of garden perennials, culinary herbs, annual cut flowers and a selection of tough houseplants! More information on how and where to buy will follow.

February will be busy preparing the polytunnel for the growing season. These dark, wet and occasionally sunny winter days are being spent patiently exploring my (hopefully burgeoning) carpentry skills in constructing seed benches and potting areas, creating raised beds and nurturing existing stock through the coldest spells. Watch this space!

Greener interiors

Alongside broadening our plant offering from the polytunnel, we will continue to provide houseplants to businesses and residences upon request. Being an advocate for establishing greenery inside, (especially in public spaces with all the benefits it brings), I offer consultation and advice as well as supply, delivery and installation.

I will continue to source established, mature plants from Holland when required and our plants page will soon show a selection available to buy. These can be posted, collected in person or delivered locally within the Penzance area. 

Minimal Bella Hangers

Our popular Bella hangers continue to be available to buy from our website or Etsy shop. Making them has been keeping me busy through these winter months. They are available in a range of lengths with customised sizing always an option.

Polytunnel life

Its been a busy couple of weeks casting seeds into many trays and pots… mostly culinary herbs and a variety of annual flowers for cutting – the relative warmth of the space enabling some early germination and a head start  for the season. The actual act of sowing, dropping a single seed at a time or sprinkling the finer, almost invisible varieties, are rare moments of stillness for me.  And the first signs of green sprouting through the soil is always a whoop of satisfaction, not to mention all the awe at the force of encapsulated life bursting out from the husk.
